Sautéed Spinach


Prep Time: 10 minutes


1 pound, baby or regular fresh spinach

1 clove garlic, sliced (optional)

1 tablespoon olive oil


  1. Wash spinach leaves thoroughly. Pat dry.
  2. Place a sauté pan over medium heat with olive oil. Once heated, add garlic (if using) and cook for a couple minutes. Add spinach, a little at a time until all is wilted.
  3. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot.

Healthy Fare for Kids Serving

A quarter cup of cooked spinach. 

(1 pound of fresh spinach will yield 10-12 cups of torn leaves, which will cook down to about 1 cup or one cup of tightly packed pre-cooked spinach leaves that will give you about a quarter cup of cooked spinach)

Try to buy locally grown and produced food -- visit a farm stand for local produce when possible.
