Sautéed Brussel Sprouts

It’s time to be adventurous and throw away the caution about introducing these beautiful little cabbages to your family. When prepared with a crispiness, as achieved by sautéing, they have a wonderful texture and sweet taste. Don't overcook. Enjoy!

Prep Time

20 minutes

1 pound of brussel sprouts, either a bag, branch or loose

2 tablespoons safflower or grapeseed oil

1 tablespoon butter

salt to taste

  1. Rinse brussel sprouts then pat dry with a dish towel. Trim each brussel sprout by cutting the base, then slice in two from top to bottom.
  2. Heat a sauté pan over medium to medium high heat. Add oil and butter. As soon as butter is melted, add brussel sprouts.
  3. After a few minutes, give the brussel sprouts a stir making sure the surfaces are caramelizing but not turning black. Continue to cook about 5-7 minutes until, when pierced with a fork, brussel sprouts yield to the piercing but are not soft.
  4. Season to taste and enjoy!
